Art is Revolting

In a bar in Toledo across from the depot
On a barstool, she took off her ring
I thought I’d get closer so I walked on over
I sat down and asked her name
When the drinks finally hit her she said, I’m no quitter
But I finally quit livin’ on dreams

Henry is fond of putting messages in a bottle.  He drops them overboard at sea, but rarely on the river.   Terrorists?  Why not artillerists?  Or empiricists?  Baptists or hognuts interrupted Punta (who couldn’t help rolling her eyes).  They say he dropped one the size of a bucket mid-Pacific under sail.  Bobbed in our wake for two days added Henry.

Newspapers are from what we called the future. Got blinded and burned bringing them aboard.  You must send crew to fetch artifacts and leave him lest she dive and drown all aboard except the pilot.  Henry’s eyes twinkled like guns in the Fokker scourge. First time Henry liked fighting was in the air (over Flanders). Like Sickles at Gettysburg. He left us bones (an artifact).

Henry Ford put messages in a bottle as well.  Huguenots. Deutsche Welle.  Leadership quality was on his mind when he started the tin Lizzy in 1908.  Black Bess for the US.  Springfield rifles built our empire.  And a lotto hot air from your derrière old man notes Punta awakening HSS Dart.  Bring the ship to life she says over the tube and the crew falls to their launching stations.

Trans dimensional tuner.  Nothing metaphysical about it… but there are always witches and werewolves (toroidal) closing in behind you.  Those who cannot work will escape up the chimney.  It looks like an N with a vertical line in the middle.  Lubbers think the answer lies somewhere in there. Just go click- that’s their trick. The one with the scissors is looking at you.

In the mirror, I saw him and I closely watched him
I thought how he looked out of place
He came to the woman who sat there beside me
He had a strange look on his face
The big hands were calloused, he looked like a mountain
For a minute I thought I was dead

Although Henry Ford resisted some kinds of change, he always championed the advancement of materials engineering, and often mechanical and industrial as well- but above all, ingredients are crucial.  I will build a motor car for the great multitude. It will be large enough for the family, but small enough for the individual to run and care for. It will be constructed of the best materials…

By the best men to be hired, after the simplest designs that modern engineering can devise. But it will be so low in price that no man making a good salary will be unable to own one – and enjoy with his family the blessing of hours of pleasure in God’s great open spaces. The best men to be hired.  Aye.  Calvinist or Hobbs ian.

Henry (Chaska and Thabo’s friend) quite agreed- although it remained a mystery to the old men why everybody hated Jews so much.  Maybe because they tended to be merchants.  Who knows.  Hire the best men.  Chaska would find them.  Thabo would make them the offer they could not refuse.  At least nobody ever has (so far) refused.

They only had to be the best.  Didn’t care if they were Jews… or even women.  Punta was a shiksa for sure but nobody cared as long as the Dart got home safe- cargo or not.  That is Henry’s anguish: arriving without cargo is unprofessional.  Daisy understood that while Coca-Cola red was morphing, and Pandora saw the swastika…

evolving.  For real.

But he started shaking, his big heart was breaking
He turned to the woman and said
You picked a fine time to leave me, Lucille
With four hungry children and a crop in the field
I’ve had some bad times, lived through some sad times
But this time your hurting won’t heal
